to "get his cookies" with him. I was totally surprised and amazed that he did that. Is it common for straight guys (and my bro-in-law is definitely straight) to allow this sort of thing? If you are not comfortable answering this in open forum, please email me, but I'd really like some knowledgable answers.

First and foremost, thank you for posting this interesting question on this forum. It definitely gets my noggin crankin’ this morning! LOL! To answer your question directly with just the facts given, I am inclined to believe that your brother-in-law may be someone who is so secure about his own sexuality that it doesn’t really bother him to explore a bit. Studies have shown that boys may explore with one other to discover their sexuality, it is also not uncommon for men to explore a part of their fetishes.

While our society usually outcasts those that are different, it really is those that are different that makes life the more interesting. While you may not necessarily want to explore certain sides of your sexuality, your brother-in-law may be comfortable enough with himself that he is OK with this. Thanks for askin’ pardner!

What you must understand stand is we are NOT dealing with a black and white standard here dear. People say orientation is gay straight or bi and that's it along with some Asexual people (NOT TRUE). An brilliant psychologist came out with a scale a while back called the KINSEY SCALE, his name was Alfred Kinsey and he came to the conclusion many people have many different orientations. The scale goes from 1 to 6 now there are some people that are 0 meaning they are 100% straight and have never been attracted to the same sex, and there are some who are a 6 and they are 100% gay and never have been attracted to the opposite sex. MOST OF US ARE SOME PLACE IN THE MIDDLE. A 1 would mean that rarely a man is attracted to another man, and 3 is bi. You can help your brother in law by trying to figure out saayyy how many times a week he is attracted to males vs. females or if this was just a one time thing. If it was he is probably like a 1 or maybe one half or something. THE SCALE IS BELLOW.

HOPE THIS HELPS PEACE

There's a common "measurement scale" used to define any given person's sexuality, called the "Kinsey Scale". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale) It is possible that although your brother-in-law is mostly straight (maybe a 5 on the scale), he may be open to the idea of homosexuality if the "mood" is right.

It is fairly common for even the straightest of males to have had one or more incidental homosexual encounders in their lifetime. It is often said that about 95% of men report having had some kind of homosexual experience during their lifetime, mostly during adolescence when sexuality is at it's peak.

It happens more than you know and more than I used to know. It is demonstrative of what kind of person you are inside. I just moved to a small town from a big city. Not having met any gay people here, I submitted my profile on some personals sites (even Yahoo). While I met some interesting guys, there were 11 who were married to women(half of which had children). Of course I didn't find out they ere married till I met them. Needless to say, I didn't "get cookies" and I cancelled the profiles.
At least he was honest with you.

An ex of mine once told me that he did the same thing a few years ago with his best friend. Both these guys are not the type you would expect to do something like that. But I think it is very common for most people, male or female, to experiment at some point.

Yes, it's actually very normal. Almost everyone participates in some from of homosexual activity at least once in their life. That doesn't mean they're gay though, it just means they were sexually experimenting.

What make's someone "gay" is the fact that they only like members of the same gender and want to live with them like a straight man would with a woman.

well i am a straight female, i do have a gay female friend that sends me flowers and is interested in me...i can see myself holding her..and I'm totally straight...but sometimes i think in our minds we wonder how it would be..maybe he had that moment of wonder...and this guy he probably was very nice and kind to him...kindness does wondrous things

Well I think it depends on when he did this.If it was when he was a young teen then I'd say it was normal experimentation. If he did this while he was an adult or while he was married to your sister i'd say he might be Bi.

I'm not surprised.

I usually assume that every man is sexually attracted to other men (in some degree or another) until proven otherwise.
