All that I have.

I gave up my desire to be the god of my own little kingdom. Jesus Christ offered me eternal peace and joy (which is not the same as happiness, it is more valuable and lasting. Happiness is ephemeral and blows away like the mist when misfortune blows on it). All I have to do to obtain what Jesus promises is allow Him to be the God of my life. All I had to "give up" is my self-centered philosophy, my desire to have my own way all the time, the delusion that I am the center of things and trying to do everything my way! This is very simple, but very hard at times. However, the longer I live with God at the center, the better I like it and the more peace I enjoy. His ways are contradictory to the way most people operate, but they work better than anything else I tried before I met Jesus. I walk in peace and joy almost all the time and after I die I will experience these things in a totally new way. I look forward to that!

edit: believe me this way of life is anything but boring or static. It offers me more than just "feelings" of peace and happiness. Living this way gives me things to explore with God's help. It gets challenging because I have to live at odds with the whole culture around me - the "me first" society which is America.

All my junk that I don't need for everyday life.
Of course giving ones life and soul to God is a good idea, but I have already done that.
