Have you ever thgt about it this way.
Well since almost everyone in your family rides a bike that's why u tend to think it's all ur family.
But really is everyone else..
There are 2 types of riders..
Those who went down.
And those who are going to go down.

Just pray and try to be safe out there..
That's all you can do, or quit..
U will know when it's time to quite.

Those who said that motorcycles are dangerous are WRONG. Stand in a motorcycle dealership for a couple hours doing nothing and see if you die. After all, if it's the BIKE that's dangerous, being in close proximity to a whole bunch of them should kill you, right? That's as stupid as the "loud pipes save lives" crap.

Many important details have been left out of your story that make ALL the difference.

- How old were they? Were they young and inexperienced, or were they older and "knew it all."

- Did any of them ever have FORMAL training, like an MSF course?

- Did they wear FULL gear every time they rode, including full face helmets, leather or textile jackets and pants, motorcycle boots and full finger motorcycle gloves?

- Did they stay within their skill level when operating a motorcycle and did they know what their limit was?

If ANY of these questions has a "NO" answer, then they killed themselves. The motorcycle was not the problem, it was their lack of experience and poor judgement instead. If so many memebers of your family were killed, it sounds like everyone was self-taught, didnt' wear gear, and perpetuated their knowledge (or lack thereof) throughout your family.

If you want a motorcycle, do it the right way and you may live.

Instead of blaming the bikes, maybe you should consider that the riders were the ones at fault. No offense to your family, but it they are (or were) a hard drinking, hard partying bunch, then it's there's the chance that alcohol was involved. In addition, were these street bikers or hard core dirt bikers? Did the accidents occur when they were young and showing off or old pensioners? If your family thought they were all Evel Kinevals, then they were taking risks they shouldn't have. Get my point?

As mentioned, take a safety course, don't try to impress anyone, look out for others and you'll be fine. Maybe you should set the example of how to ride a bike without nearly killing yourself. Maybe the remainder of the family will learn a thing or two.

I dont believe in a "curse", but I do believe in the self-fulfilling prophecy (If you wake up thinking this is going to be the worst day of your life, everything you do will subconciously go wrong). Anytime a person is on two wheels, you HAVE to ride defensively. You have to keep the "big picture" all around you every moment you are on the road. And yes,,,,sometimes there is just nothing you can do and it just may be your time,,,but whether you on a bike, in a car or driving a dump truck, when it is your time to go, you will. The only advice I can offer (and I have been on two wheels for the last 40 years....yes,,I am old) is if you are worried about a "curse", stay off a bike. You HAVE to feel confident about yourself and your riding abiltities to survive in a world where car drivers "just fail" to see you. Personally, I do hope you can put those thoughts aside. In any case, do what is best for YOU. Good luck and good riding.

I don't think it's a curse, however motorcycles are very dangerous. You have to really respect the machine if you are going to ride one.My second husband was a biker,he never really respected the power of the machine.he drank and smoked a lot of pot when he rode.Luckily he never wrecked when I rode with him.He did wreck several times before we married and several times after we divorced, the worst and last wreck was 18 years after we divorced.he came out of that wreck a quadriplegic, with brain damage and a trach, after years of therapy,he uses a wheel chair and can drive a hand operated van,but he will never be the same again which is very hard on our son.
also people tend to ignore motorcycle drivers, and a great deal of wrecks are caused by the people driving the cars, trucks, and vans.Either way motorcycle drivers tend to get the worst end of any wreck they are in.sorry about your family C-C.

You have to look at it as a risk for reward type of deal. If you enjoy riding it might be worth the risk. You can conteract some of the risk by wearing a helmet and protective gear.Like Ride on said, make sure your head is in the game. Be wary but don't be waiting for the ax to fall.
Maybe you should look at it as the worst is over. Only good luck is ahead of you.The choice is up to you.

how's you family doing with car accidents & work related injury's? your luck may not have anything to do with the number of wheels a vehicle has.
some people are just accident prone.
no offense intended. 1 of my grandsons has wrecked every bike & atv he ever had since his first dirt bike at 8 years old & has broken more bones than I care to count, but his brother could fall into a running cement mixer & come out without a scratch.some people have accidents & some dont !.the accident prone one is with the 82nd airborne in afganistan now, I hope his luck has changed!

All of the above, PLUS...there are actually three kinds of riders...those who have crashed, those who will crash and those who will crash AGAIN, because they didn't learn from the first time...I don't believe in curses, but I do believe in guardian angels, (yeah, this from an old crusty motorcycle cop) because on more than one occasion I've heard her voice clearly say, "Don't go there..." or "Watch it!" and I've narrowly avoided being injured or seriously killed...if you find yourself fortunate enough to be blessed with one of these "angels" or "watchers" embrace him or her with a good portion of your attention and let them assist in keeping you among the living.
