I stopped using Limewire a while ago, when lawsuits started happening, before that I loved downloading music at will. I now have a new computer and I am looking for the best site or download to LEGALLY download music. I am looking for the sites with the biggest selection, best price & that allow you to keep the music if you un-join later.

What do you reccomend? Who-ever suggest the site I go with will get the points! Thanks in advance!

I'm not a fan of iTunes because you only get to hear 30 second clips, which is not a good indicator of the song being good (case in point: Joss Stone's "L-O-V-E" ... the 30 second clip is all instrumental and you don't even get to hear her sing!). It does, however, have the best selection.

I prefer Rhapsody at http://www.rhapsody.com - even if you're not a member, you can listen to full songs. Subscribing is preferred if you like to stream music (I do at work, so I create playlists and listen to whatever I want, as much as I want, all day). When you subscribe, downloads are only 89 cents each. I've not had a problem with them, and customer support is useful.

The services I know of will give you a license to burn the song; once you stop subscribing, you keep the license but not the actual song. If you want to keep an MP3 of the song, you need to burn it to disc and rip it that way.
