Sign up for a drama class at your local community college. You'll learn about the business and get one on one training on how to act. From there you can hear about college productions which are typically easier to get cast in than the other places. Get your feet wet, some credits and you'll have some experience. All of what I just mentioned can be done in 1 semester. After that you can broaden and expand and begin auditioning at repertory theaters. Search for them online or ask classmates. You'll also meet some valuable contacts at the community college.

Attend an acting school somewhere near the big movie production studios. Like near Los Angeles. Or you could audition to be an a Broadway play in New York, Detroit, or Chicago. There you could be discovered. And you could take advantage of some new reality shows that are coming out that have to do with acting.

Best of Luck!

Many actors join the the theater department at their school or college.

Call the Community Theater, in the city where you live, and ask if you can be a volunteer with them. By being involved with your Community Theater, you can determine if acting is something you want to pursue.

You have to have a great deal of experience and training. Start whereever you are by being in all the plays you can. If you are in jr hi or HS get involved in all the speech and drama activities.. That is how one starts. If you are beyond HS there is a whole routine I would suggesst. For more info, read my profile and write to me at my aol address.

Most people have to audition for parts. You could go to New York or Los Angeles; subscribe to one of the trade papers and go to every audition you can. Even studying acting, and being in colelge productions can only help you prepare for auditions.

Check and see if your local University has a film school. If so, find out when they are holding open auditions, and go for it.
