My husband and I stopped using forms of birth control 1 1/2 years ago. We just started actually trying to become pregnant 2 months ago. We're both young and healthy. I'm becoming alarmed about my fertility. Is there some reason why we haven't conceived before now? Does anyone have any tips? How long did it take others to become pregnant?

Hi there! They say that it should only take a healthy couple a year to get pregnant then you should get tested for fertility. Sometimes it is as simple as slow sperm, or low sperm count which both have little tips and tricks you can do to get pregnant... Here are some great pointers we got from our doctors when we were trying to get pregnant (I know there's a lot, but I just couldn't leave anything out, you never know what will work for who!!!);
For him - make sure he wears lose fitting underwear like boxers, this helps keep him cooler down there. Make sure if he has a sitting job, that he gets up and gets his circulation moving ever 2 hours or so for about 10 minutes (my husband has a computer job so he sits a lot while at work, and has an hour commute both ways to and from work), tell him to avoid hot baths, showers, hot tubs or saunas-this causes the sperm count to go down. Something that isn't proven but is said to help is before having sex have him drink a cup of coffee or something high in caffiene (said to help if he has slower swimmers). When having sex, do it with him on top and with a pillow under your butt. This helps the sperm travel more quickly to where it needs to be, also after sex, stay on your back for around 20 minutes slow swimmers take longer to reach their destination!
For you don't drink caffiene, eat a lot of dark green vegitables, and don't stress, if you are worried about it or stressed at all, a lot of times your body senses that and you will not be able to get pregnant. It is supposed to be a fun time in your life, enjoy sex and have fun! That is the most important thing!
We started having sex every other day of the month (or so) I ended up getting pregnant like 5 days before my period so I have a really weird ovulation schedule, something else you can do is buy those ovulation strips you pee on and find out when you are ovulating-this is especially a good idea if your periods are irregular because you will ovulate at different times of the month. Still best to have sex every other day because this helps his sperm count rise, start a few days before you are supposed to ovulate because his sperm can stay in your system for 5-7 days. Hopefully this will help you guys out... Don't give up! Good luck my prayers are with you!!!!

First off don't worry and think something is wrong, you have only being (seriously) trying for 2 months. It takes normal healthy couples 6 months to a year to conceive. You need to get some prenatal vitamins, and an OPK to predict your exact ovulation date. Also try having sex 3x a week to make
sure the little guys are there to meet the egg :).

Good Luck and sending baby dust your way.

First tip: relax!!! My husband and I took a little over a year to conceive! It really is all about timing, and everything, you might have been stressed, or off timed in the past. If you are genuinely worried -both- of you go to get examined, for some reason alot of us women think it is us, and it is a guy. Call your gyn if you haven't had your tests done recently to check on yourself, and they can refer you to a fertility clinic.
My hubby and I were paranoid and got tested, and we were fine, then we stopped thinking about ttc and WHAM we were pregnant w/in a month.

I wish you all the best, relax, and stop thinking about bad things, you will be pregnant, I wish you all and only the best! Good luck!!

its just a matter of timing. Maybe you weren't having sex on the right days or maybe you where having too much sex depleting the supply. Go to Web MD and create an ovulation calendar it should help with getting it taken care of good luck.
