Peyton Manning. He's on pace to break all the records that Favre just broke.

Define how you qualify Best QB?
Do you just want to hear what each of witless wonders on here think is the best QB? Is there some qualification? Championships? It really doesn't matter who has the best QB, it's about who has the best TEAM. One person does not win a game, let alone a championship. You could put Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Brett Favre behind the Dolphins Offensive line and each one of them would look like a high school QB. A "Great QB" is actually a combination of the skills of the QB, and the ability of the O-line to protect him for enough time to make it happen.

If this is currently playing, I would say overall Brett Favre. He has the best stats, the records, the wins. Yes, the interceptions to go with it, but he doesnt have Harrison, Gonzalez, and Wayne, or Moss, Stallworth, and Welker. Never has. He is a born leader, shows faith in his team, and WINS. Everyone comes down on him during the past couple years as Green Bay was going through transition. Will you do the same to Brady here really soon as the team gets older and tired? Or to Manning as the Colts cant afford to hang on to its players contracts? Brees is having a down year this year. So is Palmer. Where are all the critics after their careers? Brett Favre has weathered the critics, led his team to many successes over the years, including this year, and even told everyone they were gonna be good this year and nobody believed him. Nuff said! And this is from a non-Packers fan by the way.

Only three or four names should pop out this year.
In no particular order:
Manning, Brady, Favre and Romo.
These guys are playing well this year.
Who has played the best in their career?
If you go by winning, then it has to be Favre (most career wins).
If you go by scoring, then it has to be Favre (most career TDs).
If you go by overall passing, then it has to be Favre (most career passing yards).
If you go by durability, then Favre still leads the pack because of his record (longest QB streak for consecutive games started and second all time for any player at any position...and closing in on it), but Manning and Brady are also durable and are on streaks of their own.
All three have won the big game (Brady the most among the three).
Romo is too young for career stats to compare to the others.
So I give the "best Quarterback of modern-time NFL right now" award to Brett FAVRE. He has consistently done more with less over the years. He turns no name receivers into stars. There can be no comparison until someone plays as long as Favre has and at least comes close to doing what he has done in his career.

In order 1. Brett Favre - Check the stats and the personel that he's had to play with to make those feats reality.
2. Peyton Manning - No QB has been more consistent for since 2000.
3. Tom Brady - Has been a clutch QB since starting in the lineup, but seems to me to be more a system QB with huge star power lining up on the outside to inflate his very impressive numbers.
Rings don't mean a thing when judging QBs, just ask Dan Marino!

as a cleveland browns fan, it is without a doubt........bret favre. wins and losses don't tell the whole story of a qb. his most impressive stat to me is the consecutive starts at arguably the toughest position in the game
