I am a female medical assistant, and I work with some of the best guy nurses. Men in general(any field) keeps the women species at bay. There is less back stabbing with guys around. And the guys I work with keep me in stitches, laughing. So to your question.....guys are fine in the field, as long as he does not work in a OBGYN clinic.

There's nothing wrong with it. The medical field DESPERATELY needs qualified personnel, so if a guy has a mind (and the patience) for all the crap that comes along with being a nurse, then I say do it!

You're well on your way to financial security - ESPECIALLY if you decide to specialize in a particular field like nuclear medicine or medical technology, AND you get to help people to boot! Not too many career paths make you feel good at the end of your day because you actually made a difference in someone's life...

Who knows? You might find out that you like being a nurse so much, you'll decide to pursue medical school to become a doctor...

I think its awesome that more and more guys are considering to be nurses... from my personal experience.. when my grandma was in the hospital.. i found the male nurses just to be a little more compasionate and personable with the patient... i am not saying guys are more compasionate then female nurses, but i am refering to what i experinced.

I think also patients might be more intune to listen to authority more, or take things more seriously with a male nurse... this is all good, u can even become a respiratory therapist......

Male nurses are as good as female nurses. Any I've had in the past have always been very professional.

I guess everyone assumes that a male nurse is gay. Which is not necessarily true. But even if it were true, who cares? As long as they do a good job, that's all that counts.

Personally I would prefer to have a male nurse.

Its a good job, better then digging ditches. Although the world needs ditch diggers too.

If thats what a guy wants to do, then I have no issue with it. I would have no problem with a male nurse if I was in the hospital either.

don't nurses do the same work as medics? they're wouldn't be the stigma attached to male nurses if the profession were changed from nurse to medic.

As good as female nurses, male doctors.....when they are professional and caring and one is ill, it doesnt matter if the nurse is male or female, their care and expertise is needed.
