The party left him, but it was a long time ago. Probably the 1972 McGovern election, when the Dems moved away from the party of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy and Johnson that wasn't hesitant assert American interests by force, if necessary, overseas. Joe's the last of them. He doesn't believe in playing kissy-face with bad guys in hopes that they'll like us better and stop doing bad things.

Lieberman has been one of very few Democrats who agree with Bush's course in Iraq. As the lone candidate of either party who feels that way, McCain is a logical choice for him. I think they would both say this has little to do with party.

Lieberman is pro Iraq and that seems to be a deal breaker with any democratic candidate.
He could also be plotting another VP run...McCain is what some would call a centrist republican while Lieberman is what some would call a centrist democrat

He was the best thing Democrats had and they screwed him. If they had had the wisdom to nominate him in 2000 instead of Wooden Al, he would definitely have won. Lots of independents like me would have voted for him and we wouldn't have had George Bush around for the libs to ***** about for 7 solid years.
I've just about given up hope that the Dems will ever nominate someone viable again. It looks like they're headed for a three-peat right now.

He lost the Democratic Primary for Senator. Was the Democratic Party supposed to do, ignore their own party primary, ignore their own voters and support him anyway? He left the party when he decided to run as an independant, and the Republicans were hypocrites for supporting him in that race when they already had a canidate elected in their party primary.

I feel that he was too moderate for them, and yes, he was a running mate with Al Gore in 2000.

Joe Lieberman is not really American, he is Israeli. The Bush administration was seen as more friendly toward Israel so he switched sides. John McCain will just continue all of Bush's forgien policies, so Lieberman supports him. Lieberman is an American trader, Israeli spy and should be put in prison.

He and McCain (andBill Frist) had the same problem. Their views stayed the same while their parties drifted away from them.

He should not be in a party where he is so different in thinking and in style. He should have taken himself out, long ago.
That to me is dishonest, to use a party and to be against it at the same time.
