For any potential expansion and the draft, would New York belong to the QMJHL or OHL?

A New York team would be in the QMJHL as all the teams in the league are either in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, or New England.

Yes, Andrew V does have some pretty good points.

I would agree with Andrew- The O. It would be much easier for OHL teams to travel, at least to upstate NY.
As you know, the Q has Lewiston (Maine) and the O has what, 2 or 3 in Michigan and one in Penn (Erie).

As far as drafting rights, good question.

Since NYS borders both Quebec and Ontario, I would think it would be a matter of what city the team is trying to locate. Though in the area that surrounds Quebec, no real majpr cities are within close proximity, and I don't really count Plattsburg as major. Most of the places that could probably support a team already have an AHL team such as Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton and Albany. Utica is one possibility and the location of Utica would make it a tough call of what league, but I would say probably the "O"
