your due date is just an estimate. 38wks to 42weeks is concidered full term however a baby born at 37 wks most likely wont have anything wrong. It doesnt mean you concieved early, it just meant that your baby was done cooking a little early. 6 and 7lbs are great weights. they are average. anything below 5 1/2 lbs is concidered small I believe. (it might even be lower than that)

Smoking during pregnancy increase the risk of early labor among many other things. Many women who do not smoke, but do eat healthy, maintain an active/healthy lifestyle have babies who weigh more and come later in the pregnancy. Typically, babies start labor on their own 8 to 10 days after the correct due date. While it is possible that you're due date was off, most likely smoking caused your baby to come early.
While your baby may look healthy now, it doesn't mean smoking hasn't affected him/her. http://www.efc.co.nz/frame.php3?main=information.php3%3Fpage%3D2 and http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=33570#how
Basically, smoking during pregnancy shuts down the placenta. The placenta is vital for baby's health. As the placenta calcifies (from smoking) baby gets less nutrition and oxygen. This causes smaller babies, etc. Your body realizes that the baby is not getting proper care, and will start labor early in order to help preserve the health of the baby.

It's always possible since most doctors go by your LMP to estimate your due date and it is about a 3-6 day window of conception. Most doctors say they take the ultrasound into account but most of them aren't really concerned about finding an "exact" due date since it's almost impossible to do. There are also other factors that can effect your ovulation that may not have been taken into account. Like anything about your body...it's one of a kind and all the doctors can go on is a best guess. Good luck!

its not just the weight of the baby that determines your due date. yes you could have conceived early theres no 100% way of saying when you got pregnant. they check the spine and organs all that to determine when the baby was conceived and they can be up to 2 weeks off. but usually at the 20 week ultrasound they can tell you about where you should be becuz of what organs are developed how far and all that.

Everyone's normal is different - some women ALWAYS have their babies at 36 weeks. Some ALWAYS have them at 42, 43 even 44 weeks.
Remember 40 weeks is JUST an average. Docs need to remember that too!
I'm sure the smoking didn't help though.

Smoking MAY cause low birth rate, it isn't a guaranteed event. Even so if you had an U/S early on in the pregnancy and they gave you an estimated due date then it was probably accurate because they use measurement, if not then maybe he was supposed to be a little bigger but probably not much. Not sure why it matters though because they were born when they were born and its over and done with now.

Your due date is just an estimate, they can't tell exactly, you could have gotten pregnant a little earlier, or it could have been right around when the doctor initially thought.. there's really no way of knowing unless you're not very sexually active so there was only 1 time you could have gotten pregnant. Otherwise, it's just a rough estimate.

38-42 weeks is the normal timeframe for delivery. Having a baby at 38 weeks is not early. The baby is early if born before 37 weeks.
