Nope, I ride with boots on. Sneakers just don't feel right in the stirrup. Plus spurs don't really work on sneakers. They fit better on boots.

By a margin of at least 5 to 1, the people waiting in line, clamoring to get into the door, trying to find ways to get around the one sneaker per customer limit were trying to buy the retro Jordans not the brand spanking new ones.
Let's take a step back. If you want 'J's' on the first day they come out, it's not just as simple as walking down to the Foot Locker, asking for a pair and walking out. Usually, there are lines, you get a wristband or a ticket and there is an insane amount of jockeying to get the sneakers you want in your actual size.

The heel is a big factor but so also is the curve or toe of the boot it is pointed for a reason so that in the event of you being thrown or falling from your horse the boot will tend to slide out of the stirrup also boots are made with a hard sole to help in releasing your foot the sole of a boot tends to stay flat instead of wrapping around the stirrup like the softer rubber of a pair of sneakers, but I know a lot of people that do wear sneakers and I hope they never regret it in the future but one accident could be the only one that matters.

I used to... I had my horses at my home I was renting for a while, and I just hopped in joggin pants & sneakers.
I went to try a barely broke 2 year old in sneakers, and she threw me into a wall & broke my arm, and my sneaker was torn from my foot, got stuck in the stirrup and eventually fell out about 1/2 way across the arena.
Never rode in sneakers again, and never got on a horse that wasn't truly broke again.
Moral of the story here, when you look at a horse to buy and the owner says just as you're putting your foot in the stirrup that the last 3 people who tried her never made it to 8 seconds, take your foot out and walk away. Don't even try to walk her.
And don't wear sneakers!
LOL!

NIKE all the way. I hate Reeboks. I know that your not supposed to ride in tennis shoes but I still go to school and when i get off the bus, its fun to go to a field and jump on the horse bareback. lol
I do ride with tennis shoes sometimes, either to show a lesson student what to do or just to ride. I have been known to put a pair of spurs on my tennis shoes. LoL, I have a special pair of spurs for my tennis shoes so I won't get them dirty. I have been known to sneak out of the house in really good tennis shoes, put the clean spurs on and ride lol.
I love Nike just because they really support my feet and I compete in track and some basketball and my feet don't hurt as much.

Occasionally, if I don't know when that day I'll be riding. If it's just a spur of the moment, want to hop on Barnaby or my mom wants me to school a lesson horse then I'll just go in my sneakers and sweats. That's the most fun, but most often I'll just hop on Barnaby and go all 'comfy couch' on him. x]
Oh, heres a video that has a chick riding in sneakers at one point. It's a falling video, so if anyone's confidence will be shattered with a montage of clips featuring people falling off horses... I wouldn't click.

If you are riding with a saddle the only safe footwear is a boot with a heel. That being said I'm sure all of us have done the unsafe thing. I've been around horses for over 30 years and have ridden barefoot, sneakers, and with boots. I used to ride barefooted threw the sprinkler in our back yard in the summer months. I just had a halter and lead on my mare, didn't want to get the leather bridle wet. She didn't much enjoy it as she hated getting wet. Just a crazy thing my brother and I used to do. At first his filly was to young to ride so he'd lead her and run threw then we'd switch off. Did I mention we were 'latch key kids' who lived in the middle of nowhere and didn't have video games and only got one Tv station, had to entertain ourselves somehow.

The final name of the company was picked after a dream was had that included the Greek Goddess of victory, Nike. The company is well known for it's swoosh emblem as well and came up with that shortly after the name change.
One of the features of the early Nikes was that their soles were made with bags of pressurized gas in them. These bags would compress when impact took place then quickly expand back to regular size.

I don't but a few of my friends do. I prefer my Ariat riding sneaker/like boots. They are very comfortable and they are made for riding I don't like to mess up my white sneakers with horse sweat and barn dirt.

I never heard the end of it back when I use to ride, but I would wear whatever I wanted to down to going barefoot in the summer. In winter if it was especially muddy I would wear my boots (easier to clean) and if it wasn't muddy, it was tennis shoes of some sort. If it was an event, I would wear the boots usually. In the summer it was little bobo shoes, sandals, or barefoot, with shorts and tank. I never conformed at all, just wore what I wanted to and what I was comfortable in.
Add,,,I'm trying to scan some pics ...I'll add them when I get them on the pc
sorry had to add,,,of course if it's an event (english or western) you need to dress properly for the standards
