Why wasn't Pennington starting?

Because he wasn't getting it done when he was the starter. Kellen Clemens was starting but he got knocked out of the game yesterday, so Pennington came back in.

Pennington was injured and then benched a while ago give the younger QB's more reps in a season that is lost.
He's still one of the most accurate passers in the league, but can't really throw the bomb enough too keep the safety's back.

He wasn't doing well (at least not on the level he had done last year) so Mangini thought it was time for a change, so they decided to give the kid, Kellen Clemens, a shot.
Its been downhill for us for a while I'm afraid, with or without Chad. That whole offense needs re-tooling (especially with the Defense making an effort to step up lately).

He was benched in week 9 after the team went 1-7 in the first half of the season.
He only git to play yesterday because Clemens got knocked out of the game.

Hes been on the bench since mid-season because Clemens was playing better.

Because although he is accurate, he cannot throw deep passes because he's had either 2 or 3 shoulder surgeries.
They keep him as a back up because he is quite capable of being a good backup for them.

Too inconsistant and getting a bit slower (older) and wasnt fast to start with

Because he's been ineffective this season...Jets want to see what they have with Clemens...
