My daughter is 15. She loves scary movies. She has never had a problem. She watched these Zombie movies and now she is afraid of Zombies. I don’t know what to do. She actually goes over in her head escape routes and where we can hide in case something like that happens. She has nightmares about it and all. She knows that they are not real but for some reason can not get them out of her head. I never had nightmares like this when I was her age nor did I fear things that were not real. I did not allow her to watch these kind of movies until recently and it is only Zombie movies not others and I still have to watch it first before she can watch it. Can someone tell me how to get her past this.

Newsflash! There's no such thing as Zombies.

Just have her keep repeating that over & over again.

She should be afraid... and so should you.
For when the undead arise to feast upon your flesh, there will be no escape. You may be able to hide... for a while... but they will eventually get you... all of you. You shall see.
Seriously, though, it's probably got something to do with the idea that zombies are actual people... not just scary monsters. Also, they feed upon human flesh, which is cannibalism, if you consider zombies to be humans. There has been an inherent fear in the psyche of the human mind of others coming back from the dead. Maybe her recent fascination with zombie movies has uncovered that fear that laid dormant inside her until now.

I'm friends with a person who feels the same way, those zombies are serious bussiness man!

Get her the gift of knowledge, so that she'll be able to concoct better escape plans for when they finally come

thats a book, books are good because you can keep them around, like in your zombie D-day bunker.

when I was younger I saw the movie Aliens and I was fine when I watched it, but at night I just lay in bed picturing one of those creatures popping out at me.. I remember being so scared of those things at the time.. nothing anyone said to me made any difference.. I knew they weren't real, but I was still scared.. eventually I just outgrew it and it stopped bothering me.. your daughter probably just needs to learn to deal with this on her own.. you can't "rationalize" her fears away..

Start her on the "resident evil" series of games.

Shooting zombies will get her over her fear of them
