Donkey in the well

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway and that it just wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

A touching parable. But............ In human psychology the other side is always greener. It is a beautiful and poetic, but in reality if we ask the people who are living there, the story will be different. If the feeling what the son got is felt by all the people who are living at the farm, how beautiful the world will be.....but is not possible because, life is different and imagination is different. I liked the answer of Blueeyes EST I liked the answer of "needtobe" also because inspite of his richness the boy is unhappy. Whether you are rich or poor learn to be happy. We have to learn a lesson from the story "Fox and the sour grapes". If the grapes are not in your reach you think they are sour. To avoid disappointment of achieving someting - focus on the disadvantages in that particular thing. Thanks for giving such a beautiful parable and opinions expressed are very interesting and varied

yes i know this one. I would rate it a 10/10. It teaches the fact that one shouldn't lose hope when life and your own people are against you. You have yourself and God always by your side. :-)
