All good mothers would say of course that we would take the children child support or not....I think from what you are saying you just want a place that is safe and that is good..

erm..okay..not being mean...but what about the mothers that have full custody with no support, court ordered or not...I know plenty of women who, to get out of a bad relationship, did NOT request any support at all. They just wanted the guy OUT!

If all you want is for the kids to have a safe and happy home, kudos to you, you're more of a man than some I've come across. But, more often than not, regardless of money, a woman is going to fight, fight, FIGHT!!! for her kids. There's more important things than money, and besides...there are a lot of organizations out in the world that will help single mothers. It's hard, but, look at how many single moms are out there, working 2-3 jobs, have families, government aid, and a load of other things they can rely on. Most of them that I know of are doing fairly well, and deserve more respect than they get. Hell, half of them do it by their own sweat, with no aid.

Turn the question on yourself for a minute...even if she didn't ask for support, (the state would probably grant it anyway) but even if you didn't HAVE to pay, would you? Would you still fight for custody?

It's sad really, when it comes to Dads and divorce...unfortunately, a lot of states still favor the mothers when it comes down to it, unless she's really bad off mentally, addiction, or whatever else. I wish there was a better way to split a child's time between the parents.

Okay, before I get a bunch of thumbs down....I know about dead-beat dads, and moms...and I totally understand the reasoning behind everything a parent would fight for.

I would fight the Devil himself in hell for my children. Being custodial parent is not about money -- but all too often a parent being hit with child support goes for custody only because of the money.'

It's a sad world when two people can engage in something as intimate as placing one's body part inside of another human being -- but the same two people cannot work out reasonable custody and support.

There is no child support between my ex and I. I have custody of the youngest and he has the oldest. The only reason he has him is because that's where my son wanted to be and the judge would have allowed it due to his age. If age hadn't been a factor though he would be with me and I still wouldn't want anything from my ex. There are a few of us out there that don't feel like we're owed anything from our exes and would rather do it on our own.

money is not the question. for the love of your children who can provide the most love and security in the home... fight for custody of your children if you know you are the best for them... the other parent will be ordered to help with support regardless... but you must file for custody and support it won't be awarded with out a court petition and back support won't be provided until the date the petition was filed.... gather your thoughts quickly and get the paper work filed asap.

I would fight for my kids, no matter what. I have a 15 year old daughter who's father split when she was 2......and I've never received a dime. A safe, happy home is the first priority. Good luck!!

I'd fight tooth and nail for my children. Money doesn't come into play at all! I want them with me. And, just so you know, child support will come automatically for you---it's the law.
