Amazingly, but to the relief of millions of fans east of Fairfield and west of Paramus, the Yankees did not represent the American League in either the 2004 or 2007 World Series.
The National League representatives, the Cardinals and Rockies, each were defeated soundly in four-game sweeps.
In both Series, the winning team was the , which won the AL Wild Card in 2004 and the AL East in 2007.
(Curiously, Yankees fans have a mental defense mechanism that prevents them from seeing or learning the identity of the winning team. It's true. Weird, but proven true.)

The Red Sox won in 2004 for the first time in 86 years. They won again in 2007. Look up Boston Red Sox and I'm sure you'll find a lot of information.
