A "trace" is a small part of an virus or other computer infection. Possibly a "leftover" from either a previously incompletely removed infection or an infection that had a botched installation.

A full-blown virus infection can make up to several hundred changes to your system files. Each change would be considered a trace.

Means fragments of trace spyware or trace cookies. Just delete them.

Afaik the trace is also a kind of cookie. The anti-spywares consider them as malicious, but I think they are rather harmless.
