I am a 19 year old female. This morning my lower "stomach" area, right above my vagina was in REALLY bad pain. I could barely move, it was like I had really bad gas. I still have pain, but its in my abdominal area. Im scared that I could have cervical cancer, but ive heard that it is VERY rare in 19 year old females. What could be causing this severe pain in my stomach? I've had it for a while now, it comes off and on.
I never really have pain in my vagina, EVER, its usually just in the area I explained.
I haven't gotten a pap yet, but I plan on getting one very soon. I just really wish someone could put my mind at ease, I would be devastated to find out I have cancer at such a young age! :(

Please help and let me know what could cause the following:
*Stomach cramps/abdominal pain
*Gas
*Bloating (not too much bloating, just a very little bit)

You should definitely see a doctor. I don't know why you've fixated on the idea of cervical cancer, but what you have doesn't sound anything like it. It could be endometriosis, or something strange with your uterus that is causing pain, etc. But the doctor can clear it up, and treat it before it becomes worse. And you should definitely be seeing a gynecologist regularly, anyway, once you become sexually active.

I would be very very surprised if it were cervical cancer because you are very young and the major symptom of cervical cancer is abnormal bleeding. If you have not been sexually active you can't have cervical cancer as it is caused by the HPV virus, a sexually-transmitted virus. If you have had a normal Pap smear in the last few years that would make it even more impossible!

Certainly go to the doctor for a gynecological exam. It may be some other reproductive system abnormality, or something intestinal or even a urinary tract infection. Your gynecologist should be able to point you in the right direction.

I don't think cervical cancer would be that far up in your stomach - the vagina is only like 4 inches long. It might be a horomone thing or endometriosis if you have a heavy period but it's probably nothing - just something you've been eating (sounds like lactose intolerance which develops in young adulthood usually) or a virus/bacterial infection. Go to the doctor just to be sure if it doesn't get better in a day or two. Don't eat any dairy for a day and see if that helps. I am lactose intolerant and I feel like my stomach is falling out when I eat something like ice cream or whole milk. Less common but some people can't digest soy or other foods and have similar symptoms.

there are soooo many things that could be causing the pain you're feeling....you need to see a doctor asap! the likelyhood of you having cervical cancer at 19 is very slim..but it can happen so your best bet is to go to the doc and tell them of your symptoms and they can test you...that will put your mind at ease..... other things that could be causing the pain youre feeling could be ovulation, oncoming period, stomach virus of some sort,....

these are some common signs of cervical cancer
Abnormal vaginal bleeding or a significant unexplained change in your menstrual cycle.
Bleeding when something comes in contact with the cervix, such as during sexual intercourse or insertion of a diaphragm.
Pain during sexual intercourse.
Abnormal vaginal discharge containing mucus that may be tinged with blood.
Symptoms that may occur when your cervical cancer has progressed include:

Anemia because of abnormal vaginal bleeding.
Ongoing pelvic, leg, or back pain.
Urinary problems because of blockage of a kidney or ureter.
Leakage of urine or fecal content into the vagina because an abnormal opening (fistula) has developed between the vagina and the bladder or rectum.
Weight loss.

like i said go see your doc! good luck hun!!

Cervical cancer does not usually cause pain, although it may in very advanced stages.
The most common symptom is abnormal vaginal bleeding. This is any bleeding from the vagina other than during menstruation.
Abnormal vaginal discharge also may occur with cervical cancer.

It could be ovulation, sometimes ovulation causes a lot of pain.

Please just go see your doctor asap. Best wishes.

I'm not sure that the early signs of cancer would be that painful. Is it in the lower stomach area on the right side? You could have appendicitis. You should go to the emergency room.

This really doesn't sound like Cervical cancer...no I'm not a doctor but I am a health educator with Sexual health training. there could be a number of things that affect that region of your body...constipation, bladder stones, appendicitis, a cyst, etc etc.

Now, I strongly recommend you go to a doctor, get their advice...and if a pap test is their suggestion, do it but I feel that they will probably want to explore other diagnosis as well.

Good luck.

could be period pains or, wind or apendicitis. If you are that concerned, give it a couple of days and if the pain hasn't gone go to see your doctor
