Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix?
I've read all 7 books and have watched all the movies thus far.
the 3rd movie was such a let down!
and they leave out so much!
take the end battle of the Order... the statues were suppossed to get into the fight too. that was going to be the coolest part of the movie.... seeing as how it was one of the coolest parts of the book.
is it just me and a few friends or did anyone else think that the movies would be just good if not better then the books?

crule angel is right!
but the kids that read the books have also grown up reading them too.
as far as editing for time... I wouldn't mind sitting in a theator for 3 or more hours just to see a good harry potter movie!

The books are better than the movie because the movie leaves out a lot of the good stuff.

It does super stink that the movies cut so much information out. For us who read the books it seems like a sin to cut out all that story line and we consider every word in those books essential! The hard, cold fact is that if they put EVERYTHING into the movies we would have 10 hour long movies, especially toward the end of the series when the books got really long. I would totally sit through that, but other people won't so it's not going to happen.
I thought that the last book was, hands down, the best book in the series and I think that it's really going to get hit with cuts for that. I believe someone else already mentioned this, but it probably will be totally dummed down with the battles and everything in the end. Heartbreaking, yes, but I'm just bracing myself for the inevitable.

Once you get to Azkaban, the movies start editing more material out of the books, and it only gets worse with each successive movie.
Its a shame, because you lose out on so much that was a big part of the story... the Elf Wellfare story with Hermione, all the Quidditch Cup storylines each year... plus there is so much more to the supporting characters backgrounds and what they do. Fred and George alone are hilarious.
I am curious how they are going to do Movie 7. I seriously doubt they are going to keep the same level of death and violence. Too many people (ie uninformed parents) will complain "this is supposed to be a movie for kids".
Such a shame.

I have to agree that the books are so much better than the movies but this is true for all movies that are adapted from a book. It is sad that the filmmakers can't put every single detail in the movie but if they did that the movies would be like 5 hours long.

you know, when you read a book you have some images in your mind that is different from what other ppl's imagination.and in the movie because of the time and length of the movie they usually spoil and cut really good parts and even there are some parts that they can even make because of the complication;)so I always enjoy the book more except for the romantic movies that you get to see the emotional part.HP is not even close to the movies.

The books are so long, it's impossible to make a movie from them that covers everything. I think they did the best they could with editing for time; it's unfortunate they couldn't include everything.
Books are always better than the movies.
