We're new to canada and me and my wife and I are having our first baby! She's 2 months in and we've finally been referred to an OB/GYN. But now they're saying we can't get an appointment until around January when she's 3 months in!

We want to get a check up ASAP because from what we've read, isn't the 1st trimester the most important part of the pregnancy? we just want to make sure everything is ok.

Calm down. Your wife too, stress isn't good for your baby. Some OBs don't see you until you are around 10-12 weeks along, it's not uncommon... especially with the holidays coming up. Just make sure she is getting plenty of rest and drinking a good amount of water throughout the day. Also, have her get onto a prenatal vitamin. She'll be fine. My sister-in-law just went in for her first appointment(insurance problems) and she is 18 weeks along. Everything was fine with the baby.

Good luck and congratulations.

That's what you get with socialistic medicine....no service. Many Canadians wind up taking their health issues across into the States. I would suggest you do the same for your wife and the baby. Keep in mind this is exactly the same poor service we'll have in the States if the Dems keep pushing socialism. It isn't a pretty sight.

Calm down a little bit. Most doctors want even see you before your 10 - 12 weeks. Its nothing unusual and you would most certainly run into the same problem in the US.

Doesn't Canada have a universal health care system? If so, that's why. It takes months to get appointments with specialists.
