Have PC...NMeeding a new hard drive, I had everything wiped out so I made backup discs for stuff.?

Now, with new harddrive, the modem disappeared, and I can't get onto the internet at all, although the computer does start. Have Windows XP. Help...what's with the missing modem?. Using a cafe internet today.

You are missing the driver for the hardware. You will have to download it from the MFG's website and install. You can check to see if this is it by clicking on Start and right click on My Computer and Manage. Click on Device Manager and see which hardware is missing its drivers. They will show up in Other devices.
