I took Rhiannon to see Santa this past weekend, and she shied away from him a bit. But she sat on his lap and took a picture with him. It was supposed to be on this question, but Answers gave me not one, but TWO VNs for the same question, when I tried to post it the first time!! Killjoys...

Well, let's think about it :

large, obese man who just LOVES little kids sitting on his lap, and SNEAKS into your house in the middle of the night, SEES YOU when you are sleeping... I mean, if this was any other person, we would shoot his butt!!!

Hahah, I work at the Santa booth and its hilarious to watch the kids! I feel so bad when a mother brings like 4 children for a family picture and the 3 will do it but then you have the one kid that cries and screams and messes up the whole thing <3

Hey come on, think about it for a minute. We tell kids not to go near strangers, and then they are put on the lap of this weird looking guy with a long white beard, wearing a flaming red (the worst color when you want to relate to kids, it screams danger) suit, and expect them not to be scared? There is much unknown about the situation, similar to when they are taken to a doctor's office, and they get confused and scared! For all they know, he wants to do them harm, and his look comes across as somebody who is trying to hide his true self from them.

I think kids should be scared to sit on the lap of an overweight old guy. I'm still scared of priests.

I was scared of him when I was little too. Wouldn't you be afraid to go sit on some random big guys lap!? it's quite nerve wrecking.

An old man so eager to have little children on his lap is just a little bit suspicious...

Because they are the smart ones. They know that fat basstard is an impostor. They'd have no problem with me because I am the real Santa Claus.

I dunno, I wasn't like that and neither is my son. BUT my sister was, and she was scared to death of the easter bunny. Maybe it has something to do about engraining her mind with don't talk to strangers and then you sat her on the lap of a stranger!?

Cause he is big and hairy. My boys were terrified by the sight of him for years.
