NuvaRing Late B/C my doctor messed up??? PLEASE HELP!?

I've been on the nuvaring for about a year but my perscription ran out so my doctor said shed call a refill into my pharmacy. Well she forgot to call it in and I was suposed to start my new one yesterday. I called her this morning and she called it in. I'f I start my nuvaring 24 hrs. late will I still be protected? Also, my period was really light and ended early this month (friday instead of sunday). Does this have any effect?
