like for instance, how come if a person goes over contract they face high charges for per minute extras. Also has anybody seen Verizon charging 1.99 a megabyte per download. Whats up with that. How much does it cost these companies?

You pay for an allotted amount of minutes and if you go over you get charged.

It cost the companies about 2 billion dollars to keep up those towers. Repairs and adding new towers isn't free. Also, making sure that people can get reception in certain areas they have test men and woman do millions of test calls to make sure your network is still working properly. So yes it costs them money.

Also, having a call center, having employees, and paying for the phones that they sometimes do give away for free. Costs money, everything costs money.

Do you really think when you get a free phone that Verizon, ATT, Sprint got that phone for free? No, they paid the full retail on that phone. Therefore, they lose the money on it.

Do you ever ask your video store why they charge for late fees? I swear if you really think about it, it shouldn't be hard to understand that these companies do have to do some upkeep on their network.

cell phone companies do like to screw the public.
I work for one.
I have the most basic plan and keep it at $40 a month.
No extras that is how they nail the consumer
