1)

x² + 7x + 12 = 0

The middle term is + 7x

Find the sum of the middle term

The first term x² = 1

Multiply the first term 1 times the last term 12 equals 12 and factor.

Factors of 12

1 x 12
2 x 6
3 x 4. . .←. .Use these factors

+ 4 and + 3 satisfy the sum of the middle term

Insert + 4x and + 3x intko the equation

x² + 7x + 12 = 0

x² + 4x + 3x + 12 = 0

Group factor

(x² + 4x) + (3x + 12) = 0

1. Is this supposed to be x^2 + 7x + 12 = 0? If so, foil that out into (x + 3)(x+4) = 0. And then x = -3, and x = -4.

3. Again, is this 6x^2 + 10x = -2? If so, bring the 2 to the other side. So 6x^2 + 10x + 2 = 0. You need to use the quadratic formula on this one. That gives you x = -1/6 and x = -3/2.

4. Slope is given by y1 - y2/ x1 - x2, where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are two points on the plane. So the points you have give us 2 - 1 / 6 - (-3) = 1/9.

5. If we want the x-intercept, we want to know where the function crosses the x axis. When that happens, y = 0, right? So we plug in y = 0 and need to solve x/3 = 8. So x = 24. So similar for y-intercept, except there we need x = 0.

6. Put the function in the form y = mx +b, and then m is the slope, and b is the y intercept. So -5y = -3x -15, or y = (3/5)x + 5. Then m = 3/5 and b = 5.

Okay....I'll do my best here..

1.So, for this one, you need to use the quadratic equation, which is (in word form since I don't have all the sybomls on my keyboard...) "X is equal to negative b plus or minus the square root of 'b' squared minus 4 times 'a' times 'c' all over 2 times 'a'" I hope that all makes sense...(Click the link in sources to see a visual representation...)

So, you plug that in and solve it all the way through (sorry I can't show more work, if I had a scanner I'd copy what I have written down...hopefully you know how to solve it with the formula!) And you come up with X=-4 and X=-3 (There are two answers because of the "plus or minus" part.

2.Sorry, I'm not sure how to do this one =(

3.For this one you will again need to use the quadratic equation, but first, you need to get it into proper form by adding 2 to both sides, so you come up with 6x2+10x+2=0.
Use the quadrartic equation like you did in problem 1, and you come up with X~-0.23 and X~-1.434 (~ means "approximently equal to)

4.To solve that, you need to find the slope of that line. To do this, plug the points into the equation m=y2-y1 over x2-x1. I'm going to choose point (-3,1) for my '2' values and (6,2) for '1'. This gives me 1-2 divided by -3-6, which turns out to -1 over -9, because it's a double negative, they cancel each other out, giving you 1/9.

5.To solve for X, set Y equal to 0, this gives you x/3=8. Multiply both sides by 3 to get 24. To find Y, set X equal to 0 to get 2y=8. Divide both sides by 2 to come up with 4. So the x-intercept is 24, and Y-intercept is 4.

6.To solve this, you need to first get it into the proper form y=mx+b. First add 5y to both sides, to get 3x=-15+5y. Next, add 15 to both sides to get 3x+15=5y. Divide both sides by 5 to eliminate 5y. You get 3/5x+3=y or Y=3/5x+3 (when is proper form). 3/5 is your slope and 3 is your Y-intercept.

Hope that helped you...Good luck =)

for question 5 and 6, the equation is

y= Mx=B

the M is the rise and the B is the run, the point you start on is the last number that is left
and than calculate using the formula
m=rise= 4
run 2 = 2

hope that helps SOME

Well, it'd be a good idea to talk to your teacher and ask for some extra help, or go to tutoring if your failing.
This looks like simple algebra to me...so look it up, or like I said.
Ask a teacher.

You're failing because you aren't taking the time to do the homework you are assigned - probably because you're spending your time online at Yahoo Answers...

Do your homework and quit being lazy.

These aren't hard and you, of course, need to learn how to do them (develop your mind!). I'd be happy to help you, but you've just posted too many at one time. You'll get a lot more responses if you only post one or two questions at one time.

Blessings! :)
