I have this old HP business computer that runs on AMD 64 athlon 3200+. However i found out that my computer isn't really that suitable for playing hardcore games coz sometimes my screen will blackout and refresh for 1 second while playing games. I am planning to buy a new computer but i wanna know if AMD or intel is better. On the advertisments, i found out that AMD is usually integrated into business computers rather than computers meant for home entertainment. Why is it that AMD is always for business computers meant for work??? Is AMD better at multi tasking and many computer companies like HP are utilizing it in their business computers?

Intel is the better processor in terms of performance, and AMD cpu isn't that much cheaper anyway. (the performance is so bad that if they are to price their CPU in relative to their performance, they are going into deficit. Not to say AMD is not suffering from financial loss right now anyway)

Intel CPU offers the best performance per buck. And since you mention hardcore gaming, there's no way you wants to be on a AMD cpu. Things changed alot ever since Intel introduce their Core 2 Duo line of CPU.

Furthermore, if you insist on AMD CPU, take note that the latest range of AMD CPU called phenom, has an TLB problem. In laymen terms, it means under certain circumstances, it will crash.

There will be a fix for Phenom TLB problem, but this fix brings a performance hit of 10% to 15%, so right now, Phenom is a completely crippled CPU.

If you wants AMD, get their older CPU. Don't get a Phenom. The new revision of Phenom without TLB issues will only be available in Q1 of 2008.

its good because it is cheaper.. you would go for cheaper but quite reasonable processors if you will be buying lots of them right.. i dont know at this moment which is better.. but i think amd is still better than intel coz its a lot cheaper.. maybe.. i knew back then(not that long time) that amd was better because it runs more cooler than intel and has bigger cache size and faster fsb.. but now that intel has their quad core, amd is on the rocks, i think they dont have something to compete with it..but there is something about amd project barcelona? i think its their quad core.. i think im late on new things..they change really fast..
