My laptop is dying, and it's really getting on my nerves. Because copying&pasting can take up to half an hour. Switching windows can take me 10 minutes. Playing a video would lag the entire thing, so only the audio would come out but the video wouldn't play. Joy. Bliss.

My laptop's four years old. Maybe older. Is it time to prepare it's funeral?

No funeral plans need to be made just yet.
You may have tried some of this:
1) Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup
2) Open up Internet Exployer. Click TOOLS>Options and delete Cookies, Browsing History & Temp Internet Files.
3) Run a full Virus Scan. Check for/remove any Spyware/Adware.
4) Next, go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Software and remove any software you no longer use or will never use.
5) Go back to System Tools and run Disk Defragmenter. First let it Anylize to see if it needs defragmented. If so, then defrag it. If not, then go on to #6.
6) Go to MY COMPUTER. Right-click the C: Drive and click on Properties. Click on Error Checking. Put tics in both boxes, then APPLY. A message box will popup telling you that the next time you restart, the Error Checking will begin. Click Okay. Then restart. The Error Checking may take up to an hour and a half, depending.

After the above steps, your computer should run a lot smoother and faster. If it doesn't then you've probally got a hardware conflict (but unlikely, since your computer is 4 years old, because I doubt you've added any new hardware recently but if you have, this could be the problem).
good luck to ya and let me know if this helps :)
