I'm not sure what that would accomplish except that Rice would be president for a day. The elections would have already been a fate accompli and the president-elect would be sworn in on innauguration day.

doubt they would fall for it
if cheney's ego wasnt so big and he didnt hate rice so much he should have resigned in 2004 and let condi run for president this time around
she is very popular with the repubs
btw - cheney's so called "mild" heart attack a month or so ago was much worse than reported
he may be bedridden

How about he issues an executive order banning ALL political parties. That would put an end to partisan bickering.
What you suggest wouldn't really break the color or gender barrier. Because according to the Consitiution there is NO color or gender barrier to becoming President.

I think that since we are seriously considering a black man and a woman for president, we really don't have much of a color and gender barrier.
Now we have to worry about the barriers that are encountered by the poor. A poor black kid is WAY worse off than a well-to-do black kid.
