They will have the 3rd best record and finish 1 or 2 games behind Indy but will be going on the road to either Pittsburge, Cleveland or San Diego. Better records should be more important than winning a sorry division right? They fixed it in the NBA and should fix it in the NFL.

I'm sorry sheklika... the Jags crushed your Chargers earlier this season and don't have a problem with them going on the road in the playoffs dude.

No, I believe winning a divsion should mean more than a wildcard berth. If you cannot win your division, than you should have to prove you are worthy of the superbowl by winning on the road in the playoffs. The NBA fixes games, with the help of the refs, not the way the playoffs should be.

I'd say no. You could be in a very tough division, and win it with a 9-7 record, but then you would have to go on the road in the first round of the playoffs against a wildcard team. What incentive is there then in winning your division? That should account for something. No change to the current system.

winning your division should have more importance than the wildcard. if you are going to make the division titles meaningless you should just do away with them all together just do the nfl play-offs like the nhl let the top 6 teams in each conference in. give 1&2 a 1st round bye let 3play 6 and 4 play 5. reseed the brackets after each round

You're looking to the NBA to fix the NFL's system?

You mean the same NBA that refuses to re-seed and allows the no. 1 seed to play all the easiest teams?

Winning your division is so much more important than winning any other game. The NFL's system is fine.

i think its fine...reasoning
IF indy and jax both have 10 wins, but the rest of the division had 0, and pittsburgh had 9 wins to win the division, but the other teams all had 8. that means pittsburgh had a much tougher conference and should be rewarded. it rewards a team for winning their division. besides...if they are that much better, they can win on the road.

Well, Jacksonville shouldn't have let the Chargers crush them a few weeks ago. They need to take care of business instead of hoping that playoff scheduling changes can bail them out. Get you a fresh box of tissues for when the Chargers crush them again in the playoffs!

Edit: Holy Crap! You're right. SD did lose that one. I'm sorry, dude. I was thinking Ravens. All of those lesser East Coast teams look alike to me.

This is an excellent question, and I agree. Best record means the bye, home field and so on. I also think that college football needs an 8 team playoff, so it probably won't happen.
