Sadly, all those indictments are true. I wish it were otherwise. If they only adhered to the 'good' prescripts of the Q'ran Islam would be a wonderful religion. But sadly the fundamentalists are stuck in the barbaric meddle ages. Read any history by anyone other than a Moslem and this fact becomes very evident.

Islam is a Religion of Peace, Beauty, and Spirituality, It is based on the Worship of the One True God, Allah.
Islam encourages its followers to accept people of all religions, and coexist with them peacefully.
The Way we Muslims Worship Allah is by Ritual Prayer, we also read our Holy Book, The Qur'an, Which is filled with Beautiful Poetry Praising Allah, and Guiding us on the Straight Path to Paradise.

not true - do you judge the performance of a car by it's drivers????
for example - if a driver drove recklessly and crashed the car- is the car bad or is the driver bad?
Should we follow the religion of Christianity by it's followers - how many Christians went to church on Sunday - the only Christians I see at church on Sunday tend to be over 50 - I've never seen a youth attend the church (near me - not saying that all youth don't attend).
Islam is a religion of peace and a complete way of life. You cannot quote parts of the Koran and say it means this and that - because you are not speaking about it in the context that it was written.
Don't judge a religion by it by it's followers - but look at the religion itself.

Try finding a non biased site or better yet, go to a library, talk to a research librarian and do the research for yourself. Work to make your own understandings.

It depends on interpretation and context....also that list just basically described the history of every major world religion...Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all have terrible skeletons in their closet...do some research before you make any judgements.

it's just propaganda, but I'm sure you know this.
Islam is a religion like any other major religion. It has some crazies and it has some that are peaceful. And if you try to claim it to be exclusively either.. then you are the one that is extreme.

What do you expect? Muhammad himself was a thieving, lying, child-molesting, slave-holding, war-mongering, genocidal, incestuous rapist! The Koran makes no attempt at denying this either, but "Allah" is more than happy to bend to the "prophet's" wishes, even allowing exceptions to so-called "laws" that he would never allow for other Muslims.
In addition, the Koran commands Muslims over 109 times to make war ("Jihad") against the unbelievers, to oppress the unbelievers, to tax heavily the unbelievers. And to those who don't? Hell-fire. To those who do? Eternal sex with seventy-two "divine" women who will never lose their virginity.
Osama Bin Laden and other terrorist ilk are the true face of this so-called "religion." This death-cult is NOT a "religion of peace!"
Buschl,
Try to find a site with questions that are NOT loaded, hm? *sniff sniff* Smells like an Islamic appologist to me.
Edit in response to asker's additional details:
Three words: "Ignorance is bliss."
The sad fact is that many Muslims are completely unaware of what their so-called "holy text" contains. They're unaware of the history of warring and violence by the very man they venorate as a peaceful prophet. They are also unaware of what is called "Abbrogation" which is very important in interpreting Muslim scriptures. Simply put, many of the early, peaceful verses written by Muhammad (NOT by any divine messenger) are canceled out by later, more violent verses.
There is also the fact that in the west, new Muslims and non-Muslims alike are presented with a version of Islam which is much more remniscient of Judeo-Christianity. Sadly, the dictators and terrorists in the east (note that Muslim-held lands are suspiciously free of liberty and even the most basic of human rights) are far more true to the originalist tenants of their religion than the peaceful moderates here in the west.
Abdullah,
It's not "beautiful poetry." The Koran's grammar is attrocious in ANY language. You'd think that "allah" could have ensured that his "holy book" would be readable.
Not to mention that Muslims aren't even ASSURED of paradise, even if they kill themselves in Jihad. Indeed, the Koran says that Allah can pluck whom he will from the bowels of hell and install them in his so-called "paradise." He can also do the reverse, casting from his so-called "paradise" into the bowels of hell.
That's a REALLY fickle diety.
