Any suggestions? I can't really go outside and use the hairdryer on the line(my dad's suggestion), b/c I can't leave my 2 yr old in the house alone, which is sick with ear infections. What can I do from inside the house?

There is a good chance the pipe has already split from the ice. Water is a strange chemical that actually expands when it freezes. Once the pipe is thawed you will know if it split.

Make sure you know where the shut off is in case it is leaking. If it is plastic pipe it is less likely to have cracked. I would wrap the pipe with heat tape to thaw it out.

Like somebody else mentioned open one of your sink faucets a little. If any water comes out the rest of the pipes will thaw from the moving water.

Open cabinet doors where there are water pipes. If the pipe is frozen outside, it needs to be heat-taped or at least insulated. Thawing pipes too quickly can cause expansion and bursting.

Try using a hair blower to thaw the line, I've done this a few times. Open the nearest tap and. then start there and work your way back.

If you leave a tap dripping on a cold night/day it will make the water move , which will stop it from freezing up
