Hi, this Christmas I know my parents don't have much money so I wasn't expecting much for Christmas - last year I got a Harry Potter soundtrack CD and I was absolutely thrilled with it! Anyway, they surprised me with new tires for my car awhile back which was awesome because I really needed them, and that's not cheap! Anyway, I know they got my brother a PS3 among other things, my grandparents got a 20.1 inch LCD monitor, and they got my boyfriend a $50 rechargable wireless mouse for his computer along with some shirts for work (we live together), and I jokingly asked what he ordered me online (he had to order the mouse & monitor). He said he didn't have to order it he already bought it, I'd love it, and he got me lots of other stuff too!
I kept trying to tell them I was happy, I didn't need anything (I knew they'd get me SOMETHING though) and the tires were more than enough. Now I have lots more, and it'd be rude and hurtful to say "I don't want it". But I feel bad! What to do???

Just smile, and say thank you, and give them hugs, and be glad that your parents love you so much! They enjoy buying things for you - it's important to them to give you gifts. They know you're not greedy, but they want to express their love in this way.

Perhaps your parents had put away money especially for Christmas over the year (which may seem why they didn't have as much throughout the year). If you flat out say "no" and don't take them they may feel insulted. I'm sure if your parents were able to get all this other stuff for everyone else, I'm sure they've been planning and saving for it. That or maybe they secretly won the lottery. :)

Graciously and humbly accept them. Tell them that you were happy enough with the tires and it would have been enough if it had just been them, and tell them that they didn't really have to do it. Believe me they'll know your sencerity, and that will mean a lot to them.

I know that you are concerned for your parents and that is more than most young people show on here and that is wonderful. It's the thought that counts and you should know that it gave them so much joy to do these things and if they didn't think that they could afford it then, I'm sure that since you are a sensible young lady that you learned that from your parents so stop worrying about it and just enjoy the gifts. Give them more credit for not going spending crazy this year.

BE glad your parents are able to give gifts, they are doing what they want, parents are like that. Maybe you can watch out for little things you can help them out with during the year if you think thier money is tight. My mom has lots of over the counter meds that the Dr says she has to have but because they are otc her medical won't pay. I try to pick up some of them whenever I have a little extra.

You should NEVER offer to return a gift for money, even if you want to give it back to the giver. Just remember the nice jester and repay them back one day when you can! AND be VERY grateful!! Let them know just HOW much the gift means to you even though they shouldn't have spent sooo much!

I am becoming a mother in the New Year and i would spend EVERY penny i had on my baby ever chance i got just to see his smile!! Its what parents do!! The pay back is your surprise and enjoyment we see in you!!

Merry Christmas!!

The fact that you are grateful would be enough. Don't say anything except thank you. By refusing a gift it would make you seem better than them. Your father probably got a thrill getting the gift he did, and you would ruin his fun by not taking it with a smile.

you will be giving your parents a great gift by being grateful and appreciative. Parents like making their kids happy so be happy with whatever you get. and be happy your parents are around to celebrate the holidays with.
