I was thinking the 5-9 range but I was told for the different certifications I need to choose one or the other. I am split between the two. Also do I only need a Bachelor's or do I need a masters?

You can start out with a B.A but in the end you will need your masters to get anywhere.

Childhood education and adolescence education pretty much go over the same thing. I took both classes.
I would take childhood because it generally has the majority of information in there already and adolescence seems to be a recap on most of what was in the childhood course.

Hope that helps.

Two major considerations:

1. Which age group do you like better--children or teenagers?

2. In which area are there more jobs available?

Then, when you say 5-9 range, do you mean age or grade? If it's age, it definitely seems to me that you would be happier with a certificate in elementary or childhood education. In addition, the fact that you don't mention interest in a specific academic subject also indicates that you're not leaning toward secondary school.

A bachelor's degree will qualify you at the beginning, but in most states of the US, anyway, you'll be expected to earn a master's or a master's equivalent (essentially, the same number of graduate credits, but without comprehensive exams or a thesis) within a certain number of years. I say in the US because some of your terminology is unfamiliar to me, suggesting that you may be in another country. If that's the case, you'd better check with the school system where you live for particulars.

I am finishing up my degree to teach grades 4-8. In Louisiana it is split up into Pre-K-3, 1-5, 4-8, and secondary. For the 4-8 program you have to pick two focus areas, I chose math and english. In secondary (HS) I think that you pick one focus area. I will receive my Bachelor's degree when I graduate. I am going to continue on and get my master'd degree, but here you only have to have a BS degree to teach. If you want to teach college you do however have to have your master's.
