Its the extremists that get offended. Yes, extremists do not reside in only the religion Islam.
Anyways, the only reason Wal-Mart does it is because a majority of their customer base aren't offended by being told Merry Christmas. Its good for making money, since Christmas time is when they make most of their profit.
Edit: Happy holidays should be good enough.

Actually if you re word it where Wal Mart changed policy last year telling employees DO NOT wish Merry Christmas to anyone in order to be PC may have helped on the political stage here. Why is it different this year? Why is Wal Mart tanking? Hillary on Wal Mart Mexico Board of Directors before NAFTA?
Try it again. There is no telling what set the editor or a person here off. Your question seems tame compared to the swearing and attack posts we often get. You asked a question yet answered it? I don't begin to know. Wish the TOS were more clear myself. Happy holidays all the same. OR Mele Kalikimaka :)
edit: Always respond to Customer Care. Otherwise it's just computer generated. If you take it further up to you. BUt I learned quickly to write back. Often I get points returned.

Loads of mine have been deleted for "not being a question or answer". Well i always thought when you make statement that requires a response of information or opinion from and other person and ends with a "?" rather then a full stop was a question, well apparently i was wrong.
On one hand they have to delete somethings to keep Yahoo safe for kids however the people who they employee to do this are opinionated and slightly stupid.
If i went into a popular shop and an employee told me to celebrate the birth of Christ they would get such a big rant they will decide to quit. I don't mind religion i do mind having it forced down my throat.
Edit: "mocking Jesus Christ, which is a big no-no in Yahoo A!" Clearly said by someone who has never been on the Religion section.

I'm not fond of tempests in teapots. Spend your time on something that matters a little more than this. I do think the line "Please tell me you are not a mother" was rude. The thing is, even when you are 99% sure someone is kidding, it pays to answer as though you believe they are serious. Even if they are kidding, it won't hurt, but if they are serious and you assume they are kidding, you can offend them. And if you think they are kidding, maybe someone else who reads the question is serious. I think that's especially true in questions that seem too "over the top weird" with regard to sexual matters. You have no idea how weird people really can be if you haven't read some of the heavy-duty psychology texts.

Every time i get a violation notice, which happens alot for no other reason then I don't answer the way the asker wants to hear, i write Yahoo answers and DEMAND an explaination.. They NEVER answer! I've written and written only to be ignored so I assume there is NO GUIDELINES only public acceptance of your answer.. Yahoo answers is about as poor as it gets, and many kids just sit on here and get kicks out of answering stupidly, and reporting the sensible answers.
I've noticed it's worse on the weekends when kids are out of school.

I am guessing it was insulting to some Christians. Not to me because you can have your opinion. I disagree with you because the majority of us would rather hear Merry Christmas instead of happy Holidays. Stores that pander to non believers are pissing off the many to spare the feelings of the few. They are learning it is bad for business.

darn if I know, the way I see it is Christmas is celebrating the birth of Christ and is a Christan holiday. Merry Christmas shouldn't offend anyone, but I fell happy christmas is racist and full of bigority. Maybe I can get the aclu to sue the next person who wishes me a happy christmas?

I answered this question, apparently before it was deleted.
I found nothing offensive about the question,. I suppose that with the schools out for the "HORROR DAYS", the ""Immatures "" are having a field day @ yahte, showing their asz'z.
I hope you get to read this response, THE TRUTH, before this becomes deleted, and I too, receive another violation notice.
