It has been to the extent that anything is proven in science.
Bacteria in Petri dishes for example.
Also, the fossil record and genetic traces allow us to follow backwards through history to see how animals evolved.

The question about the "theory" of evolution has more to do with people misunderstanding the meaning of theory. Evolution is proven scientific fact. It would be like saying the theory of gravity is open for debate. The reason many people have a problem with evolution is because they believe that it conflicts with their religious beliefs. I am a Christian and I strongly believe in evolution, I find no conflict between the two, and I am well informed on both subjects.
They have done experiments on short-lived organisms and seen evolutionary changes. Evolution is proven fact, whether or not everyone likes to believe it.
**Added Note** Regarding the apparent incompatability if Christianity and evolution... I don't know how people can believe that the Bible somehow discounts evolution. I can only imagine that it is some literal translation of what is written that creates conflict between the two ideas. The whole "how can there be evolution over millions of years if the world was created in 6 days" argument. It states in the Bible that to God a day is like 1,000 years and 1,000 years are like a day. I think that should pretty much clear it up right there. Of course I don't believe they mean literally 1,000 years, however this is a metaphor. I believe that evolution was a tool used by God to create life and I have never found or been shown any evidence in the Bible that can contradict that. I certainly don't think that I believe in evolution it means that the Bible must be a lie.
Oh, and evolution BY natural selection was the concept that was introduced by Darwin.

Evolution does not always take thousands of years or generations, it can take just one generation.
There is a tyoe of butterfly on a tiny island that evolved in one generation, there was a parasite somehow brought over from another island which killed off most of the males. Only the ones which were resistant to the parasite were left to breed so all of the butterflies are now resistant to that parasite. This way it happens in one generation and because it is so quick it is very easy to see.

Hey bud
Maybe because it's not considered one of the prevalent questions of the day, and in addition maybe very few people are bothered. I think what's fundamental is that we are here now, and how we sustain what is in our realm, i think is a more pertinent issue.
And i am pretty sure that all branches of science acknowledge that Africa is the so called 'mother of civilisation', but if you do not believe me then i'm sure there is ample information easily acquired via the net.
Anyways have yourself a good xmas and hope you have a peaceful, prosperous and happy 2008.

It is trying to be proved. Thats why there is the "missing link". Theory is proved by experiments with consistant results. How do u do experiements on millions or billions of years of mutations and get viable results? We know mutations are possible. However the only way to try and prove it is by finding fossils and carbon dating. Through this method, it can never be proven based on the amount of evidence needed to actually make it a fact rather than a theory. It would have to be seen in many species over a long time to make evolution conclusive.

The questions make presumptions that are questionable: a million) Can God be "shown"? If confident, are we conversing relating to the varieties of proofs cutting-edge in arithmetic and good judgment? Or the "evidence technique" which some point out colloquially in conversing of "scientific evidence"? Or something else? And if God is defined with the aid of fact the author of the priority-potential universe, does it make logical experience to assume that evidence recommendations stepped forward to handle that created universe can inevitably be utilized to the author, who via definition is outdoors of that device? 2) via what good judgment might the "disproving" of evolution in any way signify evidence for or against the life of God? (think God created the mechanisms of evolution. How might disproving evolution have any impression on God's life?) On a simplistic point, in view which you ask "Does everybody try for that reason....", you might locate somebody who claims to be doing so yet whether they freely declare that particular reason, it has no bearing upon whether the approach and the arguments they use might truthfully signify the variety of evidence or disproof.

Why hasn't somebody tried to prove intelligent creationism.
You could get two groups of people on the top of high mountains. One praying the other saying unkind things about God. Take a report of which group gets struck by lightning first...

Are we in the habit of manipulating nature?
These tests are not necessary as it is already proven in the bones of deceased animals. Development, change etc, combined with our ever increasing knowledge of how the world looked at different times throughout our history means this is not required.

They have. You can't just "prove" something like that though and expect everyone to believe it. With viruses and smaller organisms evolution is incredibly evident even with a few days' time. That's why certain sicknesses come back to haunt you.

That has been done. Over and over.
You can achieve evolution, including speciation, using fruit flies and many other fast-reproducing species. This has been done by many people, from Dobzhansky to Dodd:

In another answer, ... haysoos gave a comprehensive bibliography of such experiments (see Best Answer to this question:
