It changed their world.

The politics, economies, and cultures of many of the countries touched by Europe changed completely within a century of contact.

Many of the nations in the East began making new efforts to export goods. They had an influx of new goods as well (trade does go both ways).
Then various wars occurred or European settlers arrived and the politics were changed.

If you want to see the effects, you can still see them today.Europeans brought colonism and slavery, nothing more. If there's still chaos on most of eastern land it is because of Europeans. You can also broaden this to Africa.

East was much more ahead of Europe, more advanced before Spanish and Portuguese built big ships and landed east. Not long after the others followed. Europe was struggling with hunger, diseases and religious fanaticism. So they established colonies on these wealthy lands.

And today, easterns are the ones struggling in all those. If there is one to blame,it's the Europeans and their colonist activities.
