Everyone is different and you need to do what is best for you. Some people work better with smaller goals while others need the entire route mapped out.

I suggest that you do both. You set small goals that will help you get to the destination. It is best to see the big picture as well as what is right in front of you. Where do you see yourself a year from now, 3 years, 5, 10, and 20? At each point ask yourself what you are doing to get to such goals and what you could change; be honest with yourself.

Just remember a few things:

1. The best joys in life are not in the destination but the journey. Enjoy the journey.
2. Things don't always go the way we plan, be FLEXIBLE.!3. You will find that growth happens during times of disappointment. Such growth will give you the required experience to obtain your goal.

GOOD LUCK

Well there is what I should do, then there is what I do. New journeys freak me out, I'm more comfortable in knowing results. Horrible huh? I'm in a total live change situation right now..complete overhaul..as far a looking down the road..this road is going to have to be paved with whatever and all faith I can strum up! Good luck on your journeys!

stay on target

head up

looks right at our destinations through a veil of speculations

Would make a mental map of the journey, probably not detailed, but with clouded details, fears, expectations, known obstacles…. A lot like a dreamscape. Always forms these mental maps when going on road trips. After we know where we are in relation to our map we can worry about the upcoming obstacles known or not. When we come to an obstacle… consult the map

All the way to the end in five or more directions.

I try and map out the future just to be more prepared.

I should have been a boy scout.

One recommendation is that you get directions any chance you can.

The road less travelled by is normally under construction. If some one tells you it is impassible then it might be a smart I dea to be careful at that point.

I'm assuming you are speaking metaphorically, but I really don't look that far....as I love the excitement and adventure of the unknown that awaits. Almost every day I consider this a new journey of sorts and anticipate what might be? How about you? What are you thinking about today? Next week, or next year?

I spend most of my time looking at the road under my feet.

I get too confused if I try to get very far ahead of where I am.

If you have time send me an email. I have an ocb question I would like to ask someone who can understand that the first response should not necessarily be medication.

First I look at my feet to be sure they are on firm ground and to determine what adaptations I may need in my journey. Next I look to the horizon to see what possibilities exist for my path. Then I look to my chosen path, head high and take my first step.
