That's the problem with this kind of old system requirement thing. S3, I doubt that can run Halo at all. But there are better card like GeForce Titanium for example, that also comes with 64MB.

The most important thing is the model. A modern 256MB graphic card can outperform older graphic card, also with 256MB, but the performance gap is as big as being able to run with resonable speed, and the other not able to run a game at all

Most modern game comes with the model requirement. Such as Crysis, they state that a minimum graphic card is a GeForce 6800, so you know what kind of card is needed to run the game.

Both matter in different ways.
The model matters a whole lot more, however, in terms of pure computing power. Most games these days will not really make use of more than 256 MB of video memory. Ultimately the GPU (graphics processing unit), i.e. the central chip on the video card, matters most, and any good chip will come with enough memory, so memory should be a lesser concern when buying a consumer video card.

Anyway, I'm sorry to say that I don't believe your current video card will suffice to play the games you mentioned.

if you upgrade ur graphics card your video memory will be upgraded too... they are not separate. just go buy a new graphics card and you will have more video memory. like a new nvidia or a new ati card. get something with at least 256mb video memory

they're the two the two significant. on your case, i could first have 4 GB of RAM in the previous upgrading the pictures card. (additionally undergo in techniques that the pictures card itself is often extra significant than the quantity of RAM it has.) while attempting to get a working laptop or laptop to accomplish properly, you basically can not concentration on one element on an identical time as ignoring something. If basically one element of your gadget is subpar, it is all subpar. Having a speedy processor potential not something in case you have have been given too little RAM; having 8 GB of RAM potential not something in case you have have been given a adverse pictures card.
