Actually have been seeing lots of yankee quarters lately. With your dollar dropping in value (sorry but has been true as of late) and ours rising a bit, Canucks are heading over the border for Christmas shopping in droves not seen for years.

So, the US change comes back and some of us do keep it. Last night my son got one with a state commemoration on the obverse side and mentioned he was going to collect it.

Do you get any loonies or toonies your side of the border (our 1 and 2 dollar coins)?

Peace

Welcome to wonderful world of the Canadian Mint. Someone came up with the bright idea of minting quarters that people would save. The profit going to some Canadian "charity". That is why we have so many different quarters. From the Millennium Series through the Veterans Poppy edition to the new Olympic Series. It is a great way to raise money since people do save them.
But in true government wisdom they only cost 30 cents each to mint.

No.

Canada's population is not as spread out as the US though; 90% of Canada's population is close to the US border; since the northern parts of Canada are for the most part uninhabitable tundra... So we get a lot of US coins due to Canadians or Americans crossing the border... Especially near our Casinos.

I doubt Americans who live in Minnesota for example would care much about a Canadian coin... They'd see them all the time, but it might be something more interesting to someone in for example Texas.

I have a Canadian penny, nickel and dime. I have always wondered if the country above us does what we do. Strange thought: Have you ever seen any Mexican currency floating around? I haven't.
