When I enable the card to work, it will work for about 40 seconds and then it will disable itself every time. Any ideas?

Make sure your wireless router is also set for Wireless G.
Make sure your internet provider is compatiable with Wireless G.
If you can answer YES to those 2 questions, then you have 2 solutions.
Solution #1: Disable Windows' Wireless Zero. It's very simple. Microsoft Support Knowledge Database has easy instructions. What might be happening is this: If your laptop has a built-in wireless card, then the software for that card is searching for and connecting you to the nearest router. Wireless Zero does the same thing by default. If both are doing the same thing at the same time, they will bump into each other, kicking you offline. So you must disable one of them. It also sounds like you may have bought a seperate wireless lan card, and if so, then you've probally got 3 different programs all trying to connect you to the nearest router. Only 1 should be allowed to do this.

Solution#2: The router and notebook both use a 2.4ghz Channel to communicate on. Most cordless home phones, microwaves, etc... are also 2.4ghz. So if they're on the same channel, they will bump you offline. Most routers default to Channel 6. You can change this channel in your router's settings. Or you can replace your 2.4 phone with a 5.8. Or locate your router as far away from phones & appliances as possible. good luck to ya! :)
