I'm looking for more horse power and quicker accelaration. What would i need to upgrade on my 1989 caprice? Motor is a 305 v8. I'm not looking to replace motor with a 350.

Changing the rear axle gears to a higher ratio will improve acceleration quite a bit but you wil have to reprogram or change the computer chip accordingly and speedo gears. Going from a stock ratio of 3.08 to 3.42 or 3.55 will make a big difference....find out what ratio gears are in the car now. Maybe look for a police package rear end.
Other mods for more horsepower would be changing the cam, intake, headers, better flowing exhaust, cold air intake, reprogramming the computer chip, etc... but all these mods have to be done with computer chip programming in mind to get the most efficiency and best performance out of them.
