The light only means the ABS system is not functioning. The vehicle is still ok to drive, but the Anti-Lock Brake System will not be functional. Chances are you damaged a wheel speed sensor. When the ABS reads different speeds at different wheels, it will turn on the light an disable the ABS system.
The ABS system works basically by monitoring the speed of each wheel during braking. if a wheel begins to turn slower the the rest, that wheel is locking up, and the ABS system will release some pressure from the brakes ok that wheel. When a sensor is damaged, it will constantly give a different speed reading at that wheel, and will disable the system to avoid complications if it were to try to operate.

The light indicates the system isn't correct to function. You can still drive the car, but be aware the ABS system is not working, you can now lock up the brakes on one or more wheels and skid.
Would be good to get this checked out. Most of the time as you describe running over something, it will be out of adjustment or wires pulled loose.
Leave extra following distance, drive safe.

If you ran over something, it is possible you broken lose the ABS connector to your brakes. If you don't mind getting dirty, get a flash light and look behind the wheels and see if you can find and loose wires wires just hanging.
If it just popped off then just snap it back on. If it broken off you will have to replace it. If you feel confident about DIY then try it. Otherwise you will probably take it to some pro.
Good Luck.
P.S. Yes your brakes "work" but you will lock up your brakes (especially in this weather). Any money you DON'T spend fixing, you end up spending on car accident.

It means one of 2 things:
There is something wrong with your ABS system (Anti-lock brakes).
OR
There is a fuse problem
You can take it to your dealer and they can check for sure.
But, yes, you can still drive it but if you do have a problem with the ABS system, you will not be prtected very well during a crash (no anti-lock brakes) so have it checked out as soon as you can.
Our ABS light came on, we took it to the dealer, and it was just a problem with the fuse~!

Im with the 2nd guy in this. The oxygen sensor is choosing up a analyzing that could be purely a sprint moisture interior the gasoline or a moist connection on the sensor (placed on the tailpipe decrease than the vehicle) Its continuously an outstanding thought to maintain a modern-day gasoline filter out on any vehicle even though it may be not something. verify your gasoline cap to make optimistic the seal is nice.

abs is anti lock brakes some times it my mean your fluid is low but if you ran over something you should have it checked out you may have ruptured a brake line which would be very dangerous because you would not be able to stop

It's your anti-lock braking system ...
when the light comes on it means the system isn't working, although your conventional braking system is.
