The sphere is 36 cms around. So the circumference is 36 cms which means 2Πr = 36. Hence 2r=36/3.14159 and finally you will get 11.45916 cm as the diameter which is 2r.

If you already measured the circumference (c) of the sphere, diameter = 2 x radius. Circumference = 2 x radius x pi = diameter x pi.
pi = 3.14159

as a results of fact it says 18 inch sphere, my first reaction would be that this is it incredibly is diameter. If it have been circumference, it may well be an prolonged decimal seeing as C = (pi)(d). wish this enables :)
