To be honest, I, as an Evangelical Christian, would not want a religious government. History has shown how it has lead to an abuse of power, and we still see that happening in the Mid-East where Islam rules the civic policies of many nations. Jesus told his disciples to be, "In the world, but not of the world". Never, throughout Paul's letters do we see he bashing the government, or telling the followers to try to overthrow it, and this was during a time when Nero was using Christians as torches to light up the city, as well as feeding them to the lions. I am a firm believer of the separation of church and state, and, even though I think it is right and proper for Christians to be active citizens when it comes to civic affairs, I do not want to see the government ruled by any particular religious belief.

The United States is not a Democracy, it is a Representative Republic. A Representative Republic is FAR superior to a Democracy in that in a Representative Republic we respect that thoughts of the minority.
In a Democracy, the majority always win. In a Democracy of 3 men and 2 women, if the men want sex the 2 women have no voice.
In a Republic of 3 men and two women, the 2 women are respected and if they have a head ache or have no desire for the 3 men, legally they are protected from the desires of the men.
This Republic of the United States of America was voted into existence by Christian Men. The Declaration of Independence of July 4th 1776 declares that our rights come not from kings, presidents, congressional leaders or judges, they come from Our Creator.
Read the Declaration of Independence, our Founding Document!

I would like a government that listens to its American Citizens, not "Big Government", a Government that goes back to its Constitution and The Bill of Rights, etc, etc. Thus, I guess a Government that separates Church and State. However, whomever ends up "leading" this Republic should have good ethical morals. I strongly believe this country is in trouble............I see this country becoming more and more socialistic...............The American Citizens better wake up and pay attention before our sovereignty is completely gone.

In practice, an atheist communist government acts like the worst sort of theocracy.
A government founded on no moral beliefs either grows big enough to protect every vice, or contracts into extreme Libertarianism.
I think USA got it right at the start. So can you guys now please stop tinkering with your constitution?

Secular, definitely! Look to the Middle East to see an example of what a religious government can be like.
Besides, once you settle on having a religious government, who decides what religion gets to be in power? And what do you do about people who aren't in that group? Kick them out? Kill them? Convert them against their will?
No thanks - I'd rather trust the secular crowd.

I want an uncorrupt government, which ironically for all the self-righteous diatribe of the religious right, means secular.

I want, and have, a government that seperates church and state, indeed, to ensure the freedom of expression on religous faith, as, it has been since 1782.
