the fridge should have an evaporation tray on the bottom and it should be able to handle the water on its own. Automatic fridge defrost means that the fridge has a dehumidifier bilt in and that stops moisture from building up into frost in your freezer it also is the cause of "freezer burn" that's when your chicken or meat will get these white areas that are no longer tender when defrosted.

A common expression when I was a teenager, a 'fridge' is a girl who won't put out, or is hard to approach. Not to be confused with William Perry - 'The Fridge' ...... a totally different fridge altogether.

Periodically a heater in the freezer will come on and melt ice (frost) that has collected on the evaporator coils, ect. and the water will run through a tube to a tray that is located beneath the refrigerator and then evaporate. The fridge defrosts itself, and the water runs down the hole in the back. you only need to wipe it periodically

You can never trust the word automatic! the manufacturer says so, but sometimes the system fails. When it does work, the drained water will evaporate automatically.
