It has a very strong smell and it is like a long thin dark green leaf and it has a very soft velvety feelign when you rub it between you fingers. I was told it was Thyme but I don't think so becasue Thyme looks different.

Not a lot to go on. Most herbs have a strong smell. Is it any of these?

there are many cultivers of thyme,even varigated leafs .it may have any of a dozen leaf shapes and sizes .from 2" tall to 2`.

I don't think it's thyme, thyme has a purplish hue... good luck finding out what your mystery herb is.

Where did you find it, and what does it look like? Does sound like thyme to me so far...

Yes its a "Ginseng" i deals in ginseng too u want some i will gift u after 10 years my lady.
