what positive effects could foreign shows and films (grey's anatomy, korean series, etc) give to Filipinos?

I want to know the positive effects of foreign shows like those of the koreans, japanese, americans, etc.. towards the Filipinos.

I think theres a positive and negative side to it. Personally when Filipino Meds were discriminated by Teri Hatcher in a popular foreign show, I didn't feel small at all...I feel that we (Filipinos) being the better people shouldn't be affected at all because we are soooo much better than racists. =) Positively thinking, I guess we learn how foreign culture can be just like our culture.... :)

Not a simple and blind yes. If only for a very few individuals' world status that I would be proud to be their countrymen, the answer is an adamant no. It's their calls and actions that did it for them and I, not even the entire country, had a major part in it. It's just individual achievements. If for national, or even only regional, achievements that span across the entire country, that spans international borders, transcends time, that signified unity in accomplishing it for a cause that benefits and sustains a collective group in the Philippines and elsewhere, I definitely would be. Individual world champions, singing sensations, beauty pageants and the like that feature the individual first then his nationality are a no. Launching rockets and satellites to outer space, hosting regional and global sporting events, technology that are seen and used in other countries, exemplary finishes in sporting competitions like the World Cup and the Olympics, military and technical superiority and the like that carry the flag and country are a yes.
