I don't mind, as long as he knows his place and keeps out of Nelsinho's way...

Well, I did expect him to return to Renault. He probably expects to get the number one driver status there after not getting it at McLaren. Hopefully he'll not be a demanding person and make things difficult at the team. Especially if Piquet Jr outdoes him.

I'm not certain if he will be able to turn the team's fortune around. However, if the car is alright, he could just put them back at the the front again.

He was always going to head back to Renault once he "left" McLaren. I would imagine that they are the only ones that would like to take him back after all the whinging he did all season! There is no denying that he is a very talented driver but he really needs to get over himself!

I love it. I hope that it leads to a bit more competition for the Championship. My dream is that Alonso makes Renault a contender again, Brawn fixes Honda, and Kubica and Heidfeld can win some races for BMW. Five teams contending for the Championship makes life a lot more interesting than last year's Ferrari/McLaren show, even though I liked the result.

There were rumors after he left mclaren that he wanted to join ferrari but couldn't because they had already signed massa, then there was all that talk of the negotiations and the terms like only wanting a one year so after that he could go to ferrari which have a bigger budget and better car. I know that from a business point of view he's looking out for himself and those are good decisions but i now question his dedication and long term commitment to any team. On the other hand, he is an incredible talented driver and is in demand so he is in a position to make his own terms and I'm pretty sure any other driver in his place would have done the same as him.

It will take times but i'm sure Alonso and Renault'll win races back together. I hope Piquet Jr'll be treated equally though.

honestly I don't like fernando when he was with Renault, i've always neen and forever will be a ferrari fan, schumi and now with Kimi but, I like alonzo better than Hamilton and having him to renault will make it a lot easier for Kimi.......... simply because alonzo hates hamilton the feud between the two will clear the way for Kimi for back to back titles......

Pls. don't call Alonzo a cheat, he won two world championships without cheating......

I think compared to the other options he has, he made a good decision. Although Renault's car have been really slow this year, I think he will be able to improve their pace and they might even return as a top team next year.

LMAO Rosbif

It was inevitable that he would go back to Renault, it's like he is going home.

Renault got their development driver back, the one that gave them two WCC's.

Biggest problem Renault has last year, was coming to grips with Bridgestone's, when the car was designed around Michelins. That should be sorted out quickly.

Flavio will make sure little Piquet will tow the line, or he'll get his butt handed to him. Flav's not like Daddy Ron over at McLaren. Piquet's #2, and that's that.

Ferrari openly said they wanted Fred. However, they already had Kimi, and unlike McLaren, aren't stupid enough to have two #1 drivers.

Because Ferrari won't take him, Maclaren obviously don't want him. BMW are sticking with their line up and Alonso wants the best team he can get. Also the fact he is a cheat and Renault have been known to cheat for many years.
