line

Both, but more the line. An example of the other is e.g. insight meditation protocol in Tibetan Buddhism, which promotes high gamma wave activity, which is otherwise associated with high creativity and transcendence.

Thus, some "culture" is more transcendental than other "culture," hence, your question is based on an overgeneralized, hence inaccurate, term.

Culture draws the rules for behaviour in society. Philosophy
helps one to transcend generalities in those rules and
understand the higher aspects of specifics that are needed
for an induvidual.

The line I would embrace is a universal spirituality that highlights our common humanity and creates co-operative connections. The ultimate philosophy to guide us is based on a spiritually relevant form of 'metaphysics'.

Culture can have aspects that isolate us from or support our inner spirituality. We can get immersed and lost in Consumerism, Fanaticism or Dualism. Culture is greatest when it inspires the human vision of Unity, Creativity and potential for Harmony.

culture...... its how you interpret it... in india politicians use it to draw lines.... religious fanatics use it for their own benefits and in fact each one of us has his/her own way of interpreting it...!! there are two sides to this coin.......... culture is good till the time it does not go beyond the realm of rationality ........ if u use it to hinder the progress... its a line... deep rooted values on the other hand broaden your prespective and gives you rationality... resulting in giving you ways to transcend the line...!!
